If I Ever by S.E. Jakes6/26/2023 ![]() ![]() I liked Mal's Boston accent though so I guess there was a trade off. I noticed the change and missed Tom's strong accent, but over all the change was subtle. ![]() I'm not gonna lie, having a different narrator for this book was a tad frustrating. Mark Larchmont, not so much this time around. Really great book, great READ, there's just too much lost with switching the narrator. ![]() Bottom line, go back to printed version for book 4. Most times I was left scratching my head and saying to myself 'what the hell just happened here'? As I said she writes in perfect manspeak. somewhat confusing and don't make a whole hell of a lot of sense. The thing I liked most about theses books is that SE Jakes can write and capture 'man talk and their feelings' to a tee. The 4th book in this series is subpar in the narrator's ability, just a big NO on M. At this time I really want to quit listening and maybe just read it which is what I did and was completely satisfied with the outcome. His accents verge on.JUST NO! This whole book feels different, the characters are the same. What happened to Tom's Cajun accent? Oh God and don't get me started on Killian's (pronounced that way in first 3 books) now it Cillian(s). Something (possibly ALL their traits and idiosyncrasies) get lost in translation which saddens me. First let me say I've enjoyed this series and Adam North did such a great job of bringing both MC's to life that it's really made it difficult to transition to a new narrator. ![]()
